Limoncillo is back in Panama, with the opening of its new, urban eatery Limoncillo 'Pony Club,' a cozy, laid-back sequel to its internationally acclaimed original which served a loyal clientele for 8 years.
Contemporary American, forward-thinking cuisine takes center stage in Pony Club's new menu. Chef Clara Icaza brings forth robust, unique flavors and unexpected pairings. Tapping into her broad experience as a Chef in Panama, New York City and Northern California, she delivers a rich tableau of distinct cuisines, without pomp or fuss.
Co-owner, Jennifer Spector turns a keen eye toward the bright, crisp room; slated, blond wood, earth tones and walls showcasing black & white photography taken in Panama long ago, lend the room its distinguishing sophistication. Panama's origins as a changing city on the rise are echoed, evoking a time when horse-drawn vendor-carts ambled by on Avenida Central and friends convened at the neighborhood cantina. 'Pony Club' enkindles this time and renews it, with innovative cuisine, warmth and a modern-rustic air.
